My staff and I would like to extend a very warm welcome to Coles Nursery School.
The Nursery was opened in 1991 and is situated in the grounds of a seventeenth century farmhouse. Coles Nursery School has received the West Sussex Quality Award which recognises the quality of care and good practise in the Nursery and the dedicated work of the staff.
A typical session at the Nursery will offer a wide range of play, exploration and learning experiences for the children including; painting, craft, cooking, sand and water play, role play, singing, music and movement, free play games and story telling and many other activities incorporating the six areas of learning within the Early Years Foundation Stage. All activities and opportunities are planned and designed to include the childrens interests and their next steps of development.
Nursery Owner Susan Mortimer and her husband Tom Hendrie have expanded their business by establishing Jumping 4 Joy Ltd offering Bouncy Castle and Inflatable hire for your special occasion and Celebrationballoons4you who can supply and design balloon arrangements for every occasion. Following our last Ofsted points for improvement we have been developing the way we plan for your child’s learning and progress. It is key within the Early Years Foundation Stage that children’s interests are constantly observed and their learning is extended through these interests.
For example, a child who has pretended to dress up as a pirate is encouraged to build a pirate ship, add props, and use their imagination. Our role is to create ways to extend the children’s play by introducing activities that promote further learning.
• Writing skills (drawing a treasure map)
• Social skills (encouraging team work)
• Maths skills (Searching and counting the fish)
We will be continually observing your child’s individual interests each time they attend nursery and planning ways to bring them on to their next step.
