Coles Nursery School caters for up to 26 children ages
2 - 5 yrs.
We are open 8.00am - 5.30pm for 50 weeks of the year and offer flexible affordable childcare.

The Nursery was opened in 1991 and is situated in the grounds of a seventeenth century farmhouse. Coles Nursery School has received the West Sussex Quality Award which recognises the quality of care and good practise in the Nursery and the dedicated work of the staff.
A typical session at the Nursery will offer a wide range of play, exploration and learning experiences for the children including; painting, craft, cooking, sand and water play, role play, singing, music and movement, free play games and story telling and many other activities incorporating the six areas of learning within the Early Years Foundation Stage. All activities and opportunities are planned and designed to include the childrens interests and their next steps of development.

8.30 – 9.30 am Arriving and the children find their name and put it up on the wall
The children have a choice of drawing and creative activities.
There is a beautiful home corner and a variety of construction.
Small World Toys and the Touch Screen Computer.
9.30 – 9.40 am Register time, The children join together and say good morning
to each each other. We talk about the weather and learn the days
of the week.
9.40 – 10.40 am At this time of the morning the children will seperate into the
Cockerels and Hens. The Cockerels are the children who will
move on to school the following year and the Hens are our
younger children. Activities are planned for each group according
to their interests and next steps.
10.40 – 11 am The children will watch 20 minutes of an educational childrens
programme whilst the nursery is prepared for drinks time and the
children wash their hands.
11.00 - 11.20am The children join together and have a drink of Milk, Juice or Water.
They take turns to pass around the fruit encouraging sharing.
11.20 – 12 pm The children have access to our outside area, with use of
bikes, cars, trikes and scooters. There is a basketball net and
sand and water play. The play houses and slide are popular as
well as our various balancing equipment plus ball games and
much much more.
In bad weather the children will have opportunitites to continue
their free play or take part in circle games and other physical
games including Parachute play.
12.00 – 12.30 pm The children join together for Singing time learning many
finger rhymes and action songs. We look at books and listen to
stories.
12.30 pm The morning children will be collected and the rest of our children
will prepare for lunch.
12.30 - 1.00pm The children eat their packed lunches together.
1.00 – 1.30 pm The children have a rest whilst watching part of a familiar
disney movie. This is a chance for our younger children to
have a sleep if they need to.
1.30 – 3.00pm Our afternoon sessions are much more relaxed, the children
have a variety of different resources available to use,
including craft, playdough and opportunitities for free play.
3.00 - 4.00pm The children have a second opportunity to access our
outside area or take part in physical play.
4.00 – 4.15pm Time for a biscuit and a drink.
4.15 – 5.00 pm The children have a choice of free play, stories, or quiet time
for singing or perhaps the musical instruments.
5.00 pm The children will be collected and Nursery closes.
